Head Games - Posted by Psycho Goldfish

If you read my review of “Blockhead: the game” yesterday, you’ll recall I mentioned Carl from Aqua Teen Hunger Force. This reminded me of all the fun games over at Adult Swim, and I took it as a sign that the poorly drawn comedy gods wanted me to review one of the AS games.

Fans of games like Lemmings, Krusty’s Funhouse or Mario Vs Donkey Kong will totally get a kick out of this game. You see, for some unexplained reason, Carl’s head has become detached from his body, and only the shape shifting Meatwad can help him traverse the obstacles standing between his body and is ever balding cranium.

If you aren’t familiar with Aqua Teen Hunger Force, your first observation is likely to be either “WHY THE HELL AM I A TALKING MEATBALL?” or “THIS LEVEL ART SUCKS!”. If you have followed the show, you would know that they like to recycle as much art as possible and put the real focus in the dialog and humor. This game is no different. Sure the art is lame, but when Carl starts spouting off about his situation, you can’t help but chuckle.

The gameplay is going to be tricky if you have never played this sort of game in the past, but once you get the hang of it it’s very addicting. You move Meatwad around with the arrows like a simple platform game, but you also have 5 shape shifting buttons that you can press to redirect, launch and protect Carl from all the random obstacles found in the various levels.

Even if you just play this to hear all the one-liners, this is very fun way to blow time like it was cocaine on the ass crack of a stripper at Robert Downey Jr’s birthday bash.
