Exciting Developments - Posted by Psycho Goldfish

It’s been quite a while since we had an update around here… but hopefully that will change pretty soon.

For the past few months I have been working a ton on getting some projects moving, a new game and a trip to northern Ontario for my brother’s wedding that have kept me really busy.

Being an indy flash developer, it’s always a challenge making enough money to pay the ol’ bills… but recent developments have put me in the unfamiliar position of an anticipated steady income.

I’m working on some really exciting stuff that will benefit and empower my fellow Flash authors.  I’m not a liberty to go into specifics right now, but I will keep you posted as things progress.

Anyway, with all that said… I find myself with a lot of stress free time that I can spend doing… pretty much anything, so you can expect me to get back into the habit of posting gaming news and reviews for your enjoyment.

And on that note, I have a walkthrough to write….

Quadradius: WGM Version - Posted by Psycho Goldfish

The cross-site promotion between us and quadradius is officially live as of today, and I had a chance to try out the special WGM version of the game this morning.

While the core game isn’t any different than the guest version we reviewed back in January, there is a lot of little additions that made it a lot of fun.

The first thing i noticed was all the WGM branding, because I am a shameless promotion whore. Everything from my username to my game piices had WGM branding on them, so the graphics in this game are now SUPER AWESOME!

The sound is all the same, but only because WGM hasn’t gotten around to writing it’s official anthem yet. Maybe next time…

The gameplay is the real attraction to this promotion. You get all the strategy and such you did in the guest version, but now you get ALL THE POWERUPS. Nothing more satisfying than bombing the hell out of the entire map or shaping the arena in new ways.

This promotion is only available for 3 days, so you better hurry and check out what the unrestricted version of quadradius has to offer. If you really like it, you can keep all those powers by becoming a member.

The super awesome WGM branded won’t be around forever, so you might want to take a picture of yourself standing in front of this monumental event!

WGM Exclusive: Quadradius All-Access Pass - Posted by Psycho Goldfish

I while back I reviewed a great multiplayer strategy game called Quadradius, and I really enjoyed it.

Apparently, everyone who read the review also enjoyed the game. That review it continues to get new players into the Quadradius arena every day, and the attention from our readers has not gone unnoticed.

To thank our readers for their continued support, Jimmi Heiserman (the creator of Quadradius) has orchestrated a special 3-day event for WGM readers.

From April 18th to April 20th, players who access the game through Web-Game Magazine will be able to play Quadradius with all the member-only features unlocked. It’s 100% free, and it’s all for you guys!

Jimmi is also hooking up some plugs for our humble publication in the hopes that our reader base will grow ever-stronger, and has included some nice subtle WGM branding in the game that you can look for when you are pwning each other in the arena.

In regards to these member-only features, and why you would want to play with them, Jimmi has this to say:

“One of our subscription based selling points is that only members can choose to play with advanced settings, like Arena Size, Squadron Size, direction of game play, color of your team, timed matches and such. We want to open this up for a limited time to Guests also.

The bigger reason people become members, is because there a nice amount of extra powers, combos, and strategies that Guests never get to see or experience, only hear about in our game lobby and message board. These are dubbed Member vs. Member Only Powers. We release a new one each first Tuesday of the month, and this day we promote as New Power Tuesday (NPT).”

If you are unfamiliar with Quadradius, go read our original review…. or better yet, just go play the damn thing because it kicks more ass then a 6-legged ninja in a butt-factory.

It’s quiet…. too quiet…. - Posted by Psycho Goldfish

I know it’s been a few weeks since we’ve posted any updates or reviews, but WGM has not been abandoned.  Far From it!

Due to an unruly workload, I opted to focus on getting caught up rather than playing web games every day and getting sidetracked.  Well, I’ve gotten a couple of big projects out of the way and I find myself with more than enough time to catch up on all the great games that were released during the past few week.

Articles aside, I also have big plans for the site in general, moving away from a generic blog format and into a true online magazine presentation.

I did put in some work on the forums to take care of our nasty spam problem, so if you’ve been avoiding the forums, it’s safe to go back now.

Anyway, I have some reviews to write!

Site Updates - Posted by Psycho Goldfish

I m currently in the process of making some changes to the site’s content databases in order to prepare for a major update to the overall site that will be happening within the next few months. You may or may not experience some load errors today as I get things ready.

Of course if that is the case, you probably wouldn’t be reading this, would you?

In other news, we have started looking for any talented writers who want to help out with WGM by providing a couple of quality articles on a monthly basis.

We’ve already recruited a handful of people with a lot of potential, but if you think you have something to offer, please take a few minutes and fill out an application in our forums.

Weekly Webgame Show - Posted by Psycho Goldfish

In order to broaden the horizons of WGM, I will be hosting a weekly broadcast on Radiogrounds, Fridays at 4PM EST, to discuss the games we reviewed each week and get some live interaction with our readers and game developers

This week I’m hoping to get an interview together with Tom and Dim, the Super Flash Bros.

If you have any questions you would like me to ask, or just have any comments on the show, you can leave a post on OUR forums, the Newgrounds BBS or the Radiogrounds BBS.
